Florida Waterfront Living

Many people come to Florida to live on or near the water. A wide range of waterfront property is available, including riverfront, saltwater canal, lakes, freshwater canals, preserves, intersecting canals, basins, and of course, beaches!

Consider Resale Value

Property values rise, in general, the closer you are to the water, and the bigger and more open the water. For lasting value and steady appreciation, waterfront property on a beach, river, sound, pass or harbor will pay off best on your investment. Waterways that connect to these large bodies of water can be more accessible financially, and also provide some protection from rougher weather. Interior waterways are a great way to enjoy the waterfront lifestyle on a budget.

Throughout the State

Different parts of Florida offer different types of waterfront living. At no point in Florida is it possible to be more than 60 miles from a coast. In addition, the center of the state is filled with springs, lakes and rivers.

The long coast of Florida provides open access to saltwater along its entire border. The east coast is open to the Atlantic ocean, providing a constant sea breeze, greater surf and beautiful sunrises. The west coast is open to the gulf of Mexico, which provides less extreme tidal action, abundant estuaries, huge harbors, and gorgeous sunsets. Northern Florida has beautiful rivers, often fed by crystal clear springs which keep the water temperature cool year round. The center of Florida has many freshwater lakes, quite large, leading to the biggest of them all - the Okeechobee Lake. Below that is an environment unique in the world, the Everglades.

In all these parts of Florida, there are connecting waterways which provide many ways to enjoy the waters of Florida.
